As a bi public transport enthusiast: Slow and steady for both! Highspeed rail is overpriced bullshit, especially when you start doing completely separate rails for highspeed (e.g. like France) instead of shared rails (e.g. like Germany; yes German rail has many issues, but this isn’t one of them).
