hasan piker (guy on the right) does not represent the left and is not worthy of your attention.

he is actively making abdul el-sayed’s chances at election worse and i am frustrated about it given the stakes so i made this meme.

because like. my absolute BESTIE abdul el-sayed is out here working miracles at home trying to keep poc, migrant, low-income, queer, etc. people alive and doing the actual work of building a coalition, including making real inroads with his Jewish constituency, while being explicitly pro-Palestinian and rejecting AIPAC money.

hasan piker has made a handful of appearances with both abdul and zohran, but now abdul is getting viciously smeared for hasan’s own words, with fox news literally turning things hasan said into attack-ad material against him. and hasan just will not read the room and step back.

this is the same BOZO hasan piker who wears mao outfits, plays literal terrorist propaganda videos for his friends and goes “they’re just very musical people,” denies the Uyghur genocide, supports the invasion of Tibet, lies about queer rights in China while going on tours, and has said enough insane shit that even my OTHER bestie zohran mamdani disavowed him months ago. and the room is STILL unread and some people are trying to tell me i have to fall on the sword for piker.

do i have to beg ;;;;;;

i just want candidates who aren’t evil to win :’(

There is nothing Abdul El-Sayed could do to make Establishment Democrats or the Republicans party stop attacking him. All the things you like El-Sayed for are the exact reasons he is being smeared by Fox News and CNN. Disavowing a streamer will not help because the DNC and RNC do not actually care about Hasan Piker; they are just using him as a tool to attack progressive ideas. There will always, always be something else to attack Abdul over.

Jesse Watters has said and done way more horrible things than Hasan Piker, yet it would be absurd to claim that Abdul El-Sayed should apologize for going on Fox News and should disavow Jesse Watters. That Abdul is going to lose his left wing voters for guilt-by-association with Watters.

I cannot speak for what other people have told you, but I do not think you need to fall on the sword for Hasan Piker. You do need to stop falling for conservative propaganda though. The GOP’s official plan is to try and use Hasan Piker as a distraction away from the actual harm they are inflicting upon US citizens. Fox News talked about Hasan Piker over 300 times since April not because they think Piker and Adbul are close friends, but to try and manufacture outrage against a twitch streamer while gas and eggs are absurdly expensive. You are angry at Hasan for the idea that Hasan and Abdul are closely tied together. Fox News is the one tying the knots. CNN and MSNBC are providing the string.

Any time spent upset about Hasan Piker is a distraction from the actual harmful people in this country who have access to the levers of power.

You don’t get to decide who is the face of the left. Like it or not Hasan is very recognizable as a left influencer.

i can’t decide, but i can advocate, which is what i’m doing

the guy who restream videos of houthi pirates landing a helicopter on a ship and taking the crew hostage while cheering them on like he’s watching football does not represent me as a leftist and i advocate for other leftists to consider why i would think that.

Hasan is a crypto tankie who might become a liability for the left as China gains more power over America, but right now the commenter is right. Hasan is 100% a wedge issue that corporatists want to leverage to suppress the left. Like it or not, Marxists like Hasan are a significant part of the political left, as are people less "red"pilled who have positive views of Hasan. Throwing Hasan under the bus is a bad idea, as the people up in arms about him will not stop at just him. It will alienate a ton of highly motivated allies while earning nothing from the right. In short, “They came first for the communists…”

We are dealing with full blown fascism right now, and it will only mutate into something more unhinged after Trump. Left wing liberals simply cannot afford to lose Marxists at the polls or on the campaign trail. Anarchists and queers are officially considered terrorists by the administration, and considering how the establishment Democrats have little desire to come to our rescue, we can’t really complain about it either.

Tankies might be bastards, but right now conservative liberals are worse, and often in the exact same ways as Tankies. Mass surveillance? Genocide? Authoritarianism? Demanding you uncritically support their obviously flawed system? Ever since the 2024 election, faith in liberalism has been shaken. Rather than interrogate why or how to rectify it they instead act increasingly reactionary, trying to claw back the good ole days when everything was “normal.” Just like with tankies, they’re insults to the ideals they claim to stand for.

I do share your frustration about Hasan though. I don’t look forward to a generation influenced by him, but I guess we can’t have nice things. The big thing to remember is that Hasan is not the left, just a prominent voice in one corner of it. Continue to affirm your values and stand up for what’s right, but don’t fall for red baiting bullshit.

Abdul is great. A fascist dipshit tried to attack him on his support for trans rights and doctors’ expertise by spouting some nonsense about cutting kids’ dicks off. Abdul replied with “are you circumcised” and dismantled the ad hominem in three words.

I am trying to explain that you are wasting your time trying to untie the two. Hasan Piker is not a significant weight holding down Abdul El-Sayed. The Establishment Democrats and the entire Republican Party are where you should focus your ire. The Republicans because they are doing evil shit and the Establishment Democrats because they are focusing on attacking Abdul El-Sayed using Hasan Piker instead of fighting the evil shit.

you kinda JUST told me that this whole smear is huge part of Project 2025 (over 300 mentions etc), now you’re telling me it’s a waste of time to attack Project 2025?

          im sorry but what?
