I mean, I’m gonna be honest here… I’ve been duped before by games (15 years old fallout 4 fuck you bethesda) but a game like GTA 6 is kindof too big to fail. Like it’s already gonna be one of the highest selling games ever, no doubt. And I don’t think anything about how any one company acts is gonna change the way the “industry as a whole” operates. This is just what they do to us, no matter what. Rockstar makes good games, great games even.
I’m gonna shell out too much money for this dumb game cuz I’m gonna get a lot of fun out of it when I’m shacked up in the winter. I grew up playing games like this casually and the effect that has on even anti-corporate people like me is huge. I just wanna have some fun while the world ends. Idk people have every right to shit all over rockstar, but the whole hacker leaking situation(s) just made me realize that the discourse surrounding major events like this is damn near poison, especially in “normie” communities. It’s kinda funny to see rockstar get fucked over and over when they coulda just announced the damn game when they knew it was finished.
I guess my point is that I don’t know what anyone would be shocked at a billion dollar company to act this way. It’s like when Trump does Trump stuff, the media goes insane and calls it unprecedented when it’s just the same stuff he always does and that Reagan, The Bushes, Clinton, and even Obama has done before, just switch politicians with corporate.
It’s like if Apple got hacked and someone leaked the brand new iPhone or iMac or IOS, and people were like Oh my god what’s apple gonna say are they even gonna release !? Of course they would, and they’d drop a statement about how much they love apple fans and probably announce a new subscription to see the new IOS before it’s out, and reiterate that it’s because they LOVE you.
You like the feeling of getting screwed enough that you don’t resent it. Noted.
And you call yourself anti-corporate and follow it up with I just want to have fun while the world ends and all the richies do it, so it isn’t that bad. What does anti-corporate mean to you?
And lastly, your Apple comparison is nonsensical. They sell a physical product and their digital products can essentially only run on their physical ones. They don’t lose sales from a leak in the same way a playable PC version of GTA VI could.
That said, of course rockstar will still release it, especially since a functioning playable version hasn’t leaked to the public at this point.
If someone’s experience with the GTA franchise is “every time I’ve played GTA, I’ve had a blast” then how is expecting the game to be good screwing yourself?
You make it sound like people hate GTA games, yet still just eat them up. There’s a reason they are ridiculously popular, and it’s not because rockstar is greedy.
I did not say “all the riches do it so I should too”. We’re talking about video games here.
I don’t understand your point to be honest. All I’m ever used to is corporate ass fucking, excuse my French. My Apple comparison was deliberate because hear me out: With GTA, you know exactly what product you’re getting when you sign up. With Apple, you know exactly what product you’re getting when you sign up. I’m not surprised that people decide to buy the next IPhone before it’s even announced or advertised, it’s an IPhone, it’s too big to fail.
If GTA 6 is a bad, no fun experience, I’ll eat my words. But in no world by purchasing it (I don’t pre order games anymore) am I in love with “the feeling of being screwed”.
I grew up in 2000s America, buddy. I knew what loot boxes and micro transactions were before I knew who Karl Marx even was. I grew up on Sony and other corporate record labels selling me products like Punk Rock as anti-establishment art. All I’ve ever known is the feeling of being fucked by corporations.
And I’m sorry to say, but story wise, RDR2 is one of the best games I’ve ever played. GTA 4 & 5, when they came out, 2 of the best games I’ve ever played. Compare that directly to Fallout new Vegas, my favorite game ever to Fallout 4, which I hated and I did not enjoy playing really at all. I’ve stopped caring about Bethesda as a company 100%.
It’s like when they announced Better Call Saul, I didn’t ever glaze it before watching and I wasn’t thrilled about it being Netflix but I know that team doesn’t hire sub-par writers, amd it’s a prequel to my favorite TV show.
I’m a man with simple tastes, even basic taste in movies, TV and Video Games. I’m not afraid to admit that. Rockstar games are for people like me: simple, story driven, mindless fun and you can kill cops. All that stuff is gonna be in GTA 6 so I’m gonna play it and probably have fun.
Sorry if that bothers you, if you really think being anti corporate is just not engaging with buying anything then I got bad news for you, no ethical consumption under capitalism and all that
You should probably abstain from seeing any movies, buying electronics, playing videogames, eating fast food and literally all restaurant food (unless you love Sysco, USFoods), cars, reading books/manga, Sports, music, streaming CDs or records/casettes, concerts/festivals/, YouTube, the list goes on but I digress cuz I gotta actually get off the shitter and go work lol
Aside from the many issues with the spelling and grammar, nobody is really focusing on the actual point of this post.
The fact is that there are millions of gamers (well, bots, too) that pre-ordered this game before ever seeing any gameplay footage.
Far too many will buy the deluxe edition and R* will make so much money that they’ll probably piss themselves from laughing at posts like this.
Gamers, especially sports game enthusiasts, are always ready to bend over and lube up for the publishers.
The launch of GTA 6 will reinforce the anti-consumerist behavior of most triple-A studios.

Your previous post heavily implied that you preordered and are defending that despite your views.
By all means if you wait for the reception, some actual gameplay footage or reviews and like it, then by all means buy it.
The original commenter seemed to mostly complain about people preordering it blindly…
