Ideally, inside it would have a men’s sauna.

Your going to have to help me with this one. I think I’m mentally pronouncing something wrong.

        Still don’t get it.

I mean I think I get what DadOP is going for, it just doesn’t work at all.

Something about how it’s all pronounced. But it doesn’t make any kind of joke, pun, or anything.

The problem is it requires certain foreknowledge. Rare at that.

It’s like me telling my Linux nerd jokes to my family.

So can someone explain it in detail so that we poor ignoramuses (ignorami?) can at least figure out what the joke is supposed to actually be? Because even with the “explanation” above it … I don’t see what is intended to be funny.

I guess this is an “explain like I’m five” moment.

Mens sana (men’s sauna) means “healthy mind”.

“Inside the healthy body is a healthy mind.”

Word play explained unravels the joke, and leaves it flat.

It always does, but it at least lets the puzzled figure it out. (You might want to put that in a spoiler, though.)

I needed the explanation, and totally agree that this is funny as hell.

However, by virtue of the nicheness and need of latin, I don’t think it’s a good dad joke. It’s a multilingual pun, and those tend to fall outside of the level of accessibility a dad can reasonably expect to pull off.
