My mom tries to get rid of salesman by deferring to my dad, who then immediately folds to whatever BS the salesman throws his way. He was damn close to signing up to pay someone to put solar panels on their house which he would then also have to also pay for the electricity generated by those panels until I re-stated it to him and was like “do you not see how fucking stupid that sounds? What are you getting out of this?”
