Other than the lack of Free Mode activities, GTA Online was a ton of fun on consoles in the early days (it peaked around the time Sumo came out IMO), but I’m willing to bet it will flop immediately in GTA 6, given how much more monetized it’s going to be this time around. I mean it flopped almost instantly on PC with half the monetization, and I don’t have a console now, so I have to wait for it to come to PC and hope for the best.
The only possible saving grace is the fact that the FiveM devs are involved. But I’m not going to hold my breath. They’ll probably monetize those servers too.
(Also I still prefer GTA IV’s multiplayer to both GTA Online and FiveM. Cops and Crooks and that game’s version of GTA Race were some of the most fun I’ve ever had in a video game! V nerfed GTA Race so much that they sucked all the fun out of it.)
