Just to make sure I don’t accidentally be an asshole, when downloading stuff from Soulseek, is it customary to add the stuff you download to shared files? I’m relatively new to this so I’m unsure what the customary standards are.

Easiest way is to just point your share directory setting to your main library. Never need to think about it again.
Only issue with that is that if you store custom metadata in ID3 tags… play counts, play times, ratings, ReplayGain, etc.
