Self-Check and Uninstall: Apps That May Be Leaking Your Personal Data

On August 14, 2026, a report warned that certain apps may be leaking users’ personal information. The warning follows the joint issuance of the 2026 Personal Information Protection Special Action by the Cyberspace Administration of China, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Public Security. Based on the Cybersecurity Law, the Personal Information Protection Law, and related regulations, the National Computer Virus Emergency Response Center conducted checks and identified apps with privacy risks. Users are advised to review their installed apps and uninstall any that are flagged or suspicious.
