    I spent longer than I should have wondering why that capybara was incubating eggs before realising they were legs, not eggs.

    My capybara theory is that they’re so friendly and cool because the creatures that tend to surround them act as an early-warning system to protect them from predators.

    I got to hang out with some capybaras and all of the rumors are extremely, extremely true. Only two of the four liked to be pet, and they LOVED it. They’re sooo chill and sweet. The other two would let ya softly pat their head if you approached slowly, but I didn’t wanna bother them too much. They did love to just come to you and sit. They’re the most accurately friend-shaped little (big) guys.

        I just sat down near to them, and they didn’t move! Waited a bit, and a couple looked up at me, a couple got up and slowly sauntered away. I held out my hand to the ones who stayed, with my hand curled upwards like I’d let a dog sniff my hand, and they just kinda checked it out and really didn’t seem to care. I flipped my hand slowly and pet one of em’s head softly, then the other, and they didn’t care at all. I pet them more and they just looked around like “I am here yes”

        The only time they showed any excitement was when I offered food to them, they came over to me and stared at me until I showed them they got all the food I had for them, then pivoted back to “don’t give a fuck about anything” mode.

        Chill-ass adorable lil things!

        Quick edit: I originally said they LOVED it, I misspoke—they loved food time and were just completely down to chill.
