As soon as the last person dies that might have personally met a camp survivor they will. They can’t deny the evidence that survivors bring to the table but once people can no longer point at grandma with the number tattooed on her arm, they’ll start playing it down more and more
You sure ‘bout that? I’m pretty sure he didn’t really bat an eye when slavery was in full swing, hell, if i remember right he actually endorsed it, as much as a fictional character can endorse anything.
I wasn’t really evangelizing as much as stating that the christian god endorsed slavery, Ephesians 6:5–8, Colossians 3:22–24, 1 Timothy 6:1–2, Titus 2:9–10.
Yes, the old testament has some ethically bad things in it, all Abrahamic religions share that. I’m also atheist. I just don’t make a point of commenting “fictional character” on a meme that happens to use the word “god”, not even capitalized lmao. Perhaps you aren’t aware of how much of a militant atheist you come off as. Out of curiosity, have you ever put the bible in the fiction section?
I would never read an innocuous meme comment condemning slavery and think “ah yes, time to make a point about religion being fake and bad”.
I wouldn’t consider myself a militant atheist as much as an agnostic maltheist or dystheist. The comment that it’s fictional is more of a joke i added, knowing how riled up some can get regarding the topic. I haven’t ever placed that book in the fictional section, as i don’t visit libraries all that often, however i would certainly consider it hilarious.
No, i haven’t ever put the bible in the fiction section (though i would consider it honestly hilarious). That part at the end wasn’t really intended from the first moment i thought of replying to your comment, i added it mainly as a (somewhat offensive) joke. My trail of thought was that considering what’s written in the old testament, what is currently happening wouldn’t mean that we are “straying away from god’s light”, instead getting society (or at least Florida) closer to the morals of the old version of the deity.
Oh I’m quite aware, all Abrahamic religions have the same base of messed up morality. I’m not religious. I just find the sort of militant atheist that would make a point of “fiction” annoying.
Flordia is changing some of its teaching to say that black people personally benefitted from slavery
It just doesn’t get much worse than this stance. The only way it gets worse is when they start saying they’re re-implementing indentured labour laws
You mean like they’ll systematically target black people to send them to prison and then force them to do labor for slave wages?
Yeah, but they won’t be so sneaky about it.
Bro, it’s been happening for decades already!
Yes. That’s what I was referring to. ಠ_ಠ
There is no visible line… why not simply deny slavery and the holocaust as a hoax
As soon as the last person dies that might have personally met a camp survivor they will. They can’t deny the evidence that survivors bring to the table but once people can no longer point at grandma with the number tattooed on her arm, they’ll start playing it down more and more
I mean…
I’m past it. My living philosophy now is nihilistic.
Naw friend, nihilism ain’t it, absurdism though, now that’s the way. This shit is entirely too ridiculous
Why not both?
Every day we stray further from gods light
You sure ‘bout that? I’m pretty sure he didn’t really bat an eye when slavery was in full swing, hell, if i remember right he actually endorsed it, as much as a fictional character can endorse anything.
it’s a meme you dip
Now now, no need to be so rude, i know it is a meme, i simply stated a fact regarding it and the context
bruh
you don’t need to evangelize your lack of a religion to me. Evangelicals are so annoying.

The Christian God is a slaver, not a liberator.
The LORD instructs the Israelites to enslave.

Oh I’m no militant atheist, I worship the slaver God.
