Looking for a way to listen to music on my android device, preferably streaming, without ads. Been using Spotify with Ublock Origin on my PC and hoping there was a way to do something similar on android.
Xmanager-v2, literally Spotify app modded for ad free listening, unlimited skips.
Also now has Wave too (modded Tidal app).
Might I ask where to download it?
Actually it’s not open source, so you don’t know what’s surprise you can find inside…
One of the most recommended mods I’ve heard of, and not one complaint about any ‘iffy’ stuff going on.
There’s iffy stuff about one of the people involved, balatan.
Sources?
Other than posting to mobilism how else is he involved as he is not listed on ‘The Team’. And there’s only one dev, xC3FFF0E.
?
Enlighten me. I’ve always sticked to Balatan releases if going the mobilism route.
I’m gonna test it
XManager = free spoti Premium, no downloads
Yt revanced= free yt music premium, no downloads.
Cancel spoti sub, use the money to add GB to your internet plan
If anyone knows a thing with download please tell
Newpipe
Newpipe also gives you free download
That’s what I’m saying
You can get tidal from the same dev on their TG. Link to tg in Xmanager
Also you can try yt music with revanced
If you still wants a wider range of apps check out mobilism.
If you want, you can self host an Navidrome instance and listen to your music in your devices with Substreamer (in fact, any subsonic compatible client works with navidrome).
Check out this post in the selfhosted community https://lemmy.world/post/1583512
I’ll also pitch in Jellyfin+Finamp for a self hosted option. Navidrome is also very good, but if OP is already in the Jellyfin ecosystem, it’s a good choice.
There is also Funkwhale in case someone wants to share their music (It’s federated, using activitypub).
+1 for navidrome. I use symfonium on android, it’s not free but it’s so packed full of features it’s worth the one time payment.
I can recommend ViMusic. I got it from the F-Droid Store. It basically get’s every song from youtube, with a very nice gui. Not a song i didn’t find yet.
This is awesome! Thank you.
Neato! Thanks for sharing.
Revanced YouTube music?

I’m just over here rocking out with my Zune and all the MP3s I downloaded over the years.
Speaking of which
That is awesome news.
Holy shit that’s amazing. I used the Zune player exclusively for my mp3 collection on my old desktop PC before it took a shit on itself and died last year and have “temporarily” used a family members laptop since.
Still have my Zune HD and OG Brick Zune 30GB (in blue/black, not the beautiful brown unfortunately).
Zune HD is hands down the best MP3 player of all time.
ViMusic is worth a try: https://github.com/vfsfitvnm/ViMusic
https://github.com/KRTirtho/spotube is another similar app
Ooh, I like that too - thanks.

You may need to pay for something to stream away from home. I had to pay a one time fee for the app on my phone to watch movies and tv shows, like $9.99 on iPhone, IIRC?
They removed the pay requirement for plexamp recently. You don’t have to pay to stream remotely.
Plexamp just or is recently releasing a free version, so may not need the subscription anymore.
Source?
I saw the article here but typing plexamp free nets a lot of few hour olds articles. Here’s just one :)
Host something like Jellyfin and maintain it your own streaming service.
Expose it to the internet for on the go.Hi there! The links in your text lead away from the user’s instance, here are fixed links that stay on each user’s instance: !piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com
Maybe a dumb suggestion, but shouldn’t spotify + ublock still work on firefox for android?
(not OP) It did until yesterday. I hope that it’s just temporary.
Anyone know how to get free Spotify Premium on an iPhone?
Does safari with adguard work?
I use firefox and youtube and i see no adds. Just wished sponsor block worked
vk.com has the best music streaming library, if you need underground stuff. You’ll need to register there and browser with adblock feature (i’m using Vivaldi) if you don’t want to listen to audio commercials in Russian language.
