You used to have to switch to a female character to do the quest Recruitment Drive, but they changed the mechanics of how that works so it isn’t necessary anymore.
They also let you choose which character you want to romance during the Throne of Miscellania quest now.

Ahhh, I loved that quest as a kid, was so neat to be able to fix up the island and then pop in to collect what they’d gathered.
