Il Papa’s gonna be real embarrassed when someone reminds him that his god was originally a desert war god.

ETA for the woefully confused ones who know nothing about their own god:

    • Exodus 15:3 - “The Lord is a warrior; The Lord is His name.”
    • Isaiah 42:13 - "The Lord will go forth like a warrior, He will arouse His zeal like a man of war. He will utter a shout, yes, He will raise a war cry. He will prevail against His enemies.
    • Joel 2:11 - The Lord utters His voice before His army; Surely His camp is very great, For strong is he who carries out His word. The day of the Lord is indeed great and very awesome, And who can endure it?
    • Jeremiah 51:1-4 - This is what the Lord says: "See, I will stir up the spirit of a destroyer against Babylon and the people of Leb Kamai. I will send foreigners to Babylon to winnow her and to devastate her land; they will oppose her on every side in the day of her disaster. Let not the archer string his bow, nor let him put on his armor. Do not spare her young men; completely destroy her army. They will fall down slain in Babylon, fatally wounded in her streets.
    • Jeremiah 51:20-23 - "You are my war club, my weapon for battle - with you I shatter nations, with you I destroy kingdoms, with you I shatter horse and rider, with you I shatter chariot and driver, with you I shatter man and woman, with you I shatter old man and youth, with you I shatter young man and young woman, with you I shatter shepherd and flock, with you I shatter farmer and oxen, with you I shatter governors and officials.
    • Isaiah 19:2 - "I will stir up Egyptian against Egyptian - brother will fight against brother, neighbor against neighbor, city against city, kingdom against kingdom.
    • Zechariah 10:5 - Together they will be like warriors in battle tramping their enemy into the mud of the streets. They will fight because the Lord is with them, and they will put the enemy horsemen to shame.
    • Zechariah 14:2 - I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to fight against it; the city will be captured, the houses ransacked, and the women raped. Half of the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be taken from the city.

This is not an exhaustive list of examples of the war god that Yahweh is. The whole kum ba yah peace-loving fluffy bunny of a god is the result of Victorian sensibilities. More people would know this if they ever bothered to crack a history book on religion instead of only getting their religious info from some dude yapping at them from behind a pulpit.

Read the Bible, old testament god is a pretty vile character.

Humans too wicked? kill everyone, even all the animals just to make sure (except those that can fit on the incest cruiseline).

They have too much sex in those cities? smite them.

Amalek? Kill all children and rape the girls

Joseph was bullied by his brothers? send him to help Egypt to enslave all his “chosen people”. then kill a massive amount of Egyptian children to free them again (instead of just killing the Pharao, that would have been more effective).

New testament god has a different vibe, but it’s also from an entirely different religion.

I picked verses from the Bible as supporting examples, yes. What other text would you expect me to cite? The Bhagavad Gita?

If you’re referring to the fact that there are other verses in the Bible that would contradict these, that’s an entirely separate discussion of its own that I’m not interested in having in this thread. Yeah, the Bible is hugely self-contradictory. But it’s supposed to be the “divinely inspired word of God,” so I’d advise you take that issue up with their schizophrenic sky-daddy.
