So there is no forced arrest and re-education to “convert” them?

And there is no forced sterilisation either?

You have provided a lot of statements with absolutely no sources to back up any of it. Why should anyone trust you over sources that can be looked up?

I understand there is a lot of propaganda, but you have to understand that you are not immune to propaganda either. How can you be sure the things you read aren’t just propaganda too?

Without sources, we can’t read and judge for ourselves. I hope you value critical thinking over groupthink.

I realise not a lot of people will read this far down without downvoting and moving on, because I’m challenging the narrative I must be the enemy and a Leftist In Name Only. I want to make it absolutely clear that I’m not making any judgements about whether China is “worse” than the US or anything of the sort.

Such a comparison is wrong because they’re independent events. Just because the US’ list of human rights abuses is long, doesn’t mean it’s okay for China to add to their list.

It’s also not necessary to defend China, because even if everything we can read about the Uyghurs is true, that doesn’t change the fact that there are benefits to the Chinese way of running their country (100 year plan vs “until next election” 4 year plan, to name one) that we can strive towards.

Let’s be honest; if we as leftists got a magic wand that could change the world, we wouldn’t (shouldn’t) use any country currently in existence as the perfect template, because no country and no current political system is perfect.
