But no, I regret even reading the article, it just got worse and worse as it went on! I cannot believe this author just tried to convince me that SQL is a fad, but blockchain and cryptocurrency isn’t?!
Simply put, because UNIX already allowed for arbitrary manipulation of relational data without the need for SQL.
Okay, such as…? Any examples of any large scale application that currently uses a form of SQL, to be replaced with such methods? No?
It’s true that SQL has been popular for almost 50 years. That’s very good for a fad!
No. That would prove that SQL is very much not a fad.
But it’s only a matter of time before SQL becomes a relic of the past. In its place, we’ll see the development of new methods and techniques for managing relational data.
