Looks much better than the pillow version

This looks like my dog that passed away 4 years ago!!! Lola I miss you!
Awww, RIP, Lola.
I’ve always wondered about the creative process on things like this. Does one go out thinking, “I’d like to paint a rock to look like a dog”, then go and find a rock that looks like that? (How does one even develop an eye for something like that?! Never would’ve seen a dog in this rock if not for it being painted) Do they think, “I’d like to paint a rock! No idea what!” and find a random rock and paint the first thing that comes to mind? Or were they simply strolling and thought, “hey, that rock looks like a dog!” and went with it?
I’m not particularly artistic in this sense so the mindset of those that are is interesting to me.

Holy shit. It’s a real life concrete puppy.
It looks somewhat medieval
Me just scrolling and not reading the title: “What the fuck is wrong with that dog?”
Now that is a pet rock.
My great aunt does this too! She paints all sorts of things on rocks and then scatters them on walking trails. She also occasionally gets commissions to paint dogs that recently died
paint dogs that recently died
I feel terrible about laughing, but in the context of painting rocks, the mental imagery of painting dead dogs genuinely made me chuckle. What does she paint onto them?
Lol ok I wasn’t really thinking about how I phrased that. She paints a portrait of the dog on a rock
I just feel sorry for the hikers who stumble across a trail of emulsion-daubed former pets.
I was gifted a beautiful painted rock from a nurse who had been helping me for the few months I was in hospital. She gave it to me as a present for leaving. Wonderful lady
This is very impressive in terms of artistic ability, but would totally creep me out walking past it at night!
Yo imagine someone is robbing your house and you just chuck your rock dog at them
I didn’t usually throw my dogs at things that go bump in the night…
