Looks like I’ve got another thing on the menu for my shitbox.

Good news is that it stopped screaming after only a moment.

Bad news is that it wasn’t even close to quiet.

Further bad news is that I live in an apartment complex.

Stop being a sonic terrorist and replace your damn timing belt!

Seriously, cars require regular, preventative maintenance.

Almost all of this can be be done by yourself, with a decent toolset and maybe also with a floor jack, by reading the manual, which you can find online if you don’t have the paper copy.

If you do the regular maintenance, you will spare yourself from much costlier repairs in the future, and you will be much less likely to experience a critical failure, in a moment where you really cannot afford (metaphorically or monetarily) a critical failure.

We are gonna become Cuba, because the auto giants are never going to make affordable cars again, and gas is not going to get cheaper.

Please take care of your vintage shitbox.

For ages my Forester has had a bad steering rack and sometimes would whine especially if turning a sharp corner.

Me and my sister were at a campground one morning when she woke up from being too cold, and so as the responsible big brother, I figured I’d move the car near our tent and turn the heater on temporarily while I get the fire started.

That power steering screech as that thing turned around was the most embarrassed I’ve ever felt in my life.

If you put the carbon monoxide into the tent, you’ll be warm for the rest of your life.

My 2009 Kia does it occasionally for the aircon belt.

It does have a constant squeakysqueakysqueakysqueakysqueakysqueaky while running, and locks up the back left drum brake on the gravel driveway when it’s cold.

Neighbors are 1km away though so no bother.

Randomly the back two speakers will work or not. The front ones work. The antenna stopped working.
