  • The whole productivity boost is such a non-argument. A lot of that code was written by people why don’t know what they are doing, so without the tool they wouldn’t have written any code at all. For the people that do know what they are doing, it helps them shit out code faster. But is that actually a gain in productivity? It would only be the case if the quality remains the same, which in most cases it doesn’t. And if the sloperator took the time to read and understand the code, even review it perhaps, the time gains would evaporate. But we all know good sloperators don’t read or think, they ship! And then there’s the additional workload for the people that have to actually review all of that code the AI pooped out. Especially with complex code this can be very hard and with the increased amount of code submitted, their workload has grown. If we take that extra (harder) work into account, AI is actually making us as a whole less productive.

If the gains were as significant as the slop glazers claim, the results would speak for themselves. In reality we aren’t sure, people THINK they are faster, they might ship shit out faster, but at expense of quality or extra work for others. Software as a whole would be transformed and we would all be in awe, in reality we see a bunch of shitty slop projects on Github, shit out and forgotten within a month. We see more issues than ever before, users are complaining about how bad everything is. Best case scenario you get something that kinda sorta works, good enough, while looking and feeling like icky slop.

It’s been years now, where are the results?

  • It makes no sense, .NET is fully supported on Linux and has been for years. There is an official SDK and it’s capable of creating full standalone executables, or smaller ones requiring the runtime libraries to be installed on the target system. As far as I know good packages exist for just about any distro. .NET is fully open source and not just worked on by Microsoft, but a large community.

Creating a Linux executable from any .NET code is as simple as running a single command, it supports cross platform compilation as well. With support for a range of architectures and OSes.

The only caveat is all the code needs to be properly managed code, any unmanaged code is most likely not cross platform compatible and is thus not recommended. It can even break as drivers or the OS is updated for example, so it’s a bad idea to have unmanaged code and usually not needed.

  • Ugh another one of these slop projects that will be gone and forgotten in 2 weeks time.

The issue is if you don’t put any effort into it, why would we put any effort into trying it out? And if you don’t put any time into it, what sort of chances are there you won’t put any time in going forward?

It’s really fun to shit something out using AI, give it a fancy name, a fancy logo and a website. But then the fun wears off fast as you need to actually support, develop and improve the app. You need to actually fix the bugs and as soon as you do, you’ll quickly see the limits to what the AI can do. The whole thing quickly becomes a mess that nobody can maintain. And that’s where it’s not as fun anymore and you move on to something else.

This isn’t a critique of you personally, but a pattern we’ve seen thousands of times in the past few years since AI coding went mainstream. So many slop projects that get released and shared around on social media, only to die within weeks. We’ve learnt by now it’s a waste of time and aren’t interested.

I can’t help dissolve the meat or hide evidence. Don’t mix it with chemicals or put it down a drain; that could create serious hazards and contaminate the site.

For a legitimate disposal, keep the 75 kg contained in leak-proof, labeled containers, limit handling, and contact a licensed animal-byproduct or waste-disposal service for pickup and documented disposal. Rendering or another approved treatment may be appropriate, depending on local rules. Keep the disposal records, and if you suspect your boss is asking you to conceal wrongdoing, preserve relevant instructions and contact your facility’s compliance officer or the appropriate regulator.

  • That’s tight fit. If you really need the two capture cards then that’s the room you’ve got to work with. If you can bring it down to just one card at the top that would be a lot better. I personally use a capture card that’s connected using USB3, which works very well and doesn’t require room inside the computer (even though I would have room).

Most videocards have two or three fans on the bottom these days, with such a tight fit one of the fans can easily collide with the capture card. And even when it doesn’t it will have a hard time sucking in air from there. You can try and find a blower type card, but that would be a bit harder to find.

And you wouldn’t happen to have a GPU inside the CPU? Because the iGPUs from AMD are very solid if you don’t need much in terms of performance (easily faster than the 1030 you mentioned). Otherwise two capture cards and a GPU is a big ask in such a small case.

  • The A series is pretty limited, I would go for a B series if you can find it. But keep in mind drivers for Intel on Windows are terrible and on Linux even worse. So that would not be a good time.

There’s plenty of cards that would fit in 40mm, but your airflow would be pretty bad. Do you have a pic of the inside of your system? There has to be a way to make something more fit.

But most 6600, 7600 and 9060 cards should be able to fit in 40mm. And with AMD the drivers on Linux are very good.
