  • Public broadcasters should use it.

They wouldn’t need the development costs they now have, they could reduce server costs for anyone who’s willing to share bandwidth, they could still limit it to “local/paying users” (with an account / ip addr)

They would immediately push all their content into one place and make it so much easier to use. This would drive adoption of peertube to the next level.

I know and watch one guy and that’s nick. I just don’t know about anyone else publishing videos. I don’t see new stuff, I don’t know about it. Searching for documentaries leads into the blue. He’s dead jim.

  • I love the icing on the cake

BTW: A quick shout out to your favorite tech influencer, who probably has at least one video reviewing the Omarchy project without mentioning anything along these lines. It is unfortunate that these influential people barely scratch the surface on a topic like this, and it is even more saddening that recording a 30 minute video of someone clicking around on a UI seemingly counts as a legitimate “review” these days. The primary focus for many of these people is seemingly on pumping out content and generating hype for views and attention rather than providing a thoughtful, thorough analysis.

A big thanks goes to the author. I really like the post. At least 99% of it, I think sudo is ok, docker is ok as well, I wouldn’t use it but we are all free to choose our tools.

  • Installing arch is not difficult. Difficult is to keep track on innovation in the linux space. You are responsible to install and maintain everything. You have to decide if you want something like selinux, at what time it is mature enough to use it, install and use it. You have to evaluate if selinux is better than it’s “competitors”. You have to decide which firewall you use today and as soon as a new system pops up, you have to read up on it. You decide at what time flatpak is mature enough to use it. All this and much more is done and decided by distro maintainers. They keep up with new stuff and guide you. By using arch, you decide that you want to take care of it and that is ok, but no “normal” pc user who uses her PC once a week shall be expected to read upon all the computer maintenance stuff that is just of secondary importance to her.
