Do you need to? Are they expecting you to not learn anything over time at a job?

Like in the US it’s pretty common that if they pay for training and education, if you leave within a year or something, then you have to pay it back. But otherwise it’s expected that you accumulate experience.

They give you privacy from on-path attackers (ISP, network peers) from snooping on your traffic, that’s about it. Maybe also mixing your traffic into everyone else sharing the VPN server.

You don’t need to route radarr through it, since it doesn’t do any torrenting or other downloading itself.

Not to mention the time spent. I’d rather spend that time and effort doing other things.

I’ve compiled plenty of programs, even the kernel. But that’s a means to an end. I’ve hunted down drivers and manually resolved dependencies to get them to compile. I’ve run on weird old platforms (Minix on a 286, but I don’t think I got the Ethernet drivers working there). Sure it’s interesting, but eventually I’d rather actually use the thing.

If you really want to compile your system, go do Linux From Scratch.

If everything checks out, it might just be defective.
