Don’t be silly. There’s no better name than GIMP.

You are a talented dev. But I feel you don’t fully grasp the protection that GPL gives to those who truly contribute. I am keen in trying this and I genuinely hope you are convinced to relicense this to GPLv3.
I need more of this in my life.
I’d like to third this question.

There are clear signs like massive ping rates, downloads, etc. Anubis helps block a lot of them, btut more turn up all the time.
If you see my old posts, you’ll see that I had this exact concern.
I have since learnt that pulling a DDoS attack is actually quite resource intensive / expensive to the deployer as well, and unless you believe that you are being targeted because of something very valuable you host or that you have a technically inclined enemy who is specifically out to get you, you should be fine. Have a good think about your threat model.
With regard to bots, scrapers and the likes, yes, they are a real pain. That can be tackled with Anubis + BadBotBlocker + Fail2Ban + some custom rate limits.
I assume you are a lot more experienced than me based on the number of things you have listed to have self hosted. I feel a well configured reverse proxy with the tools I suggested will take care of 95% of all your not and scraper related worries.

I’m sorry, could you rephrase that? I think there are a few typos in your post.

Didn’t know about ProtonDB, thanks.

Anubis + BadBotBlocker + fail2ban was sufficient to stop almost ALL scraping and stupid bots. I added some rate limits as well that stopped some of the more niche bots.
Of course, I’d be surprised if notabug didn’t implement all this. I’m sure they’re far more savvy than noobs like to to protect their site.
I’m just afraid that they might be pushed into using Cloudflare or other such centralised services.

Oh I’ve been at this for a while now. I tried that exact page you have suggested along with the information provided here: https://www.wundertech.net/how-to-set-up-pi-hole-and-unbound-on-docker/
The docker container is simply not composing and running into other errors that don’t make sense despite reading up about them.
I’m not a computer whiz, so any insight would be super helpful
Seriously, of there is a guide for how a newbie can set this up, please let me know. My little website is being bashed everyday.

Any recourse even if I do find out who it is?
I tried use AI to help me with self host. It gave me incorrect information and I wasted hours trying to read the docs and the AI slop to make sense of everything.
In the end, reading the docs was all that I needed.
I hate his thumbnails and his team really needs to better themselves on that.
That said, the effort and quality of his investigations are something else.
