What are fedora and opensuse based on?

I was trying to contribute some other options since the entire thread is like 50 people saying “some electrical tape will fix it” 😅

If the setting is saved by the drive you could set it on a windows machine and then switch it back to linux.
I’m not sure if wine for running whatever the window utility youre thinking of is would work for controlling an external device like that

I barely understand what I just read but it made me happy, thanks for blessing us with your comic
Any chance you might publish it for firefox? I feel like I might prefer this over what I use now
Either way, super cool and thanks for sharing what you make with us ☺️
If I’m not mistaken that guy completely left the project like a while back now. Hasnt been involved in any way for a hot minute
Interesting I’m curious what your experience has been with email. I technically still have a gmail that I just let my spam go to and access through Thunderbird, but tuta has served me very well so far for email
Understanding how your usecase or needs may be different from mine would be helpful for when I give advice to folks I know cause I’ve thought of email as not being too bad

That is really helpful, thank you so much!
What is a tracker? 😅 I’m super ignorant about this stuff lol

I have never been good about seeding because my old laptop sucked and I rarely torrent stuff and dont really underestand what the ettiquite is or what seeding actually entails. I always kinda worried it’d keep my computer awake all the time and like use battery, or consume computational resources while I’m trying to use it
Anyone wanna give me the lowdown on seeding, etiquette, and what to expect? I’d like to be better about it, but I don’t have anyone to really learn this stuff from 😅

This is super cool! I’m not afab so I can’t help test and my question may be ignorant but I’m curious why one would want this functionality to not be something native and benefits from being hosted at all?
There are some f-droid trackers that look nice (I keep seeing one there with a super pretty ui) but I’m not sure what the tradeoffs of just using a native application for something like this might be

Yeah, I have ADHD and accurate time estimations for how long it’ll get places inclidimg traffic are REALLY important to me because my brain can’t process how long it takes to do things and time manage the way other people can
Sometimes you have needs that aren’t totally met by the open source or free license option, and thats okay :)
Hopefully over time it can get better and better, which is why I still like contributing with street complete. Only time will tell if osm will end up working out adequately for me, but if it doesn’t work for your needs, that’s alright! Maybe in the future it’ll be able to :)

Gotcha, I’d not heard of it! I’ll have to try it out sometime
Hope you have a lovely day ☺️

Yes, you can, but if every time you have to go somewhere new its not there its not really serving very well as your GPS, especially if you really need your GPS on a regular basis. At a minimum that means you need two GPS apps
I really enjoy adding stuff with street complete and wanna get more in the habit of it for anywhere I go regularly, but if someone needs to be able to get places and osm doesnt have the data they need, its totally reasonable for them to use a different gps- open street maps can’t get them where they need to go, so theyre gonna need a different one
Personally I think if someone’s needs are simply not met by the open source tool it is okay for them to look for something that will, even if the open source/free licence thing would be better in terms of freedoms

Thanks for sharing your experience, thats super helpful! I’m curious what navigation app you’re liking, I’m currently still using google maps and occasionally trialing foss osm maps, but I’m not sure if they’ll adequately fill my needs.
Yeah having to use a pixel is a bummer, I have weird hardware preferences and would really love to have more options but understand why thats not possible. I just dont love what google offers and some of the things I’d loose out on vs more niche options
I hope graphene continues to work well for you! ☺️

They may mean that open street maps doesnt have adequate data for their area, in which case those options are unlikely to help

Nice, how’s it treating you? Run into any issues?
I hope graphene serves you well, maybe someday I’ll make the switch as well :)

It’s no freaking wonder that the Swiss government was like “yo, maybe pass.”
Fucking lmao
Whole article is a very fun read. I was expecting palantir was suing for like defamation or something, but it might actually be dumber than that
I often think of community run open source free license software projects as an example of communalism, personally. Maybe when I learn about more forms of anarchism and socialism there will be other ideas that feel more apt to describe it
