Sweety, if slightly worse traffic causes you to change your opinion on genocide, the climate, the economy, etc. You didn’t actually hold that opinion in the first place.
“I was late to work for an underpaid job that I hate because of those damn protests! I have now decided to support the genocide of children in foreign countries!” Would be hilarious if it didn’t feel real on some level.
I feel like it also has something to do with Australian’s tall poppy syndrome. Some people see others trying to do something about the state of the world and feel the all encompassing need to drag them back into the shit with them. It’s so tiring.

To me it doesn’t feel real. It feels performative as shit. I meant it when I said “you didn’t actually hold that opinion”.
